Siren is hiring! We are looking for an experienced Data Scientist to help unlock the secret to how injuries form. We are a digital health and deep tech company based in San Francisco and backed by Khosla Ventures, DCM and Founders Fund. With our Neurofabric, we create the future of smart clothing and redefine the way people interact with their clothes. Our first product is an sock that detects injury in realtime to help people with diabetes avoid foot ulcers and amputations.

Over 100,000 people lose their leg due to diabetes each year in the US alone. 80% of these people pass away within 5 years. But data can save lives. Clinical trials have shown that temperature monitoring can reduce foot ulcers by up to 87.5%. At Siren, we take proven science and put it into a form factor that fit easily into people’s everyday life - Siren Diabetic Socks. For the first time real-time continuous temperature monitoring is not only possible, but can be used to find injuries early and prevent diabetic foot ulcers and amputations. By joining us, you will work at the intersection of technology, data science and medicine. You will help translate temperature and other data points into actionable insights that can help save people’s lives.

What you'll do This role will be focused on developing algorithms to help people living diabetes avoid amputations. You will:

  • Work with large, complex data sets. Solve difficult, non-routine analysis problems
  • Build analytic and diagnostic models from wearable sensors using a combination of statistical, signal processing, and machine learning approaches
  • Use advanced statistical methods to relate continuous physiological data to clinical endpoints in a real-world population
  • Design, development and test algorithms in our patient population to ensure maximum efficacy in reducing foot ulcers and amputations
  • Communicate results and methods clearly to the team

Here’s what we're looking for

  • Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline (for example, computer science, applied mathematics, statistics, computational biology, biomedical engineering, or similar) or equivalent practical experience
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience (e.g. as a biomedical engineer, data scientist, computational biologist), including experience and expertise with statistical data analysis.
  • Demonstrated experience with analysis of digital health, wearable bio-sensor, clinical or health informatics data
  • Demonstrated experience with machine learning (supervised and unsupervised), statistical modeling, and extracting and cleaning data sets.
  • Physiological signal processing and analysis of time-series data

Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • Work with mission-driven team on a meaningful first product that saves lives
  • Potential for full-time position
  • You’ll be working with some of the most talented and determined people in the world
