One Degree is a program of Alluma, a non-profit on a bold mission: to remove the barriers between people and the services and support that matter most. We believe that applying for benefits — and finding the food, shelter, or health services you need — should be quick, simple, and dignified. Our diverse team is made up of policy experts, technologists, determined leaders and compassionate innovators, united by our desire to do whatever it takes to solve complex problems in connecting people to health and social services. We create technology solutions in collaboration with the community using our tools, and are constantly striving to embody an empowerment model in our work. We are a low-ego, humble group of people that love what we do and love bringing out the best in each other.

We are fully committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion. We know through experience that people with wide-ranging ideas, perspectives, and backgrounds foster a stronger and more creative work environment. We encourage everyone to apply.

We are looking for a Manager of the Community Navigator Program (CNP) to join our team of 16 One Degree team members and dozens of remote part-time employees and volunteers. We are growing our Community Navigator team to deepen our engagement with families and individuals to connect them with resources. The Community Navigator program includes 2 full-time Community Navigators (Bay Area and Los Angeles) and 1 full-time Peer Navigator (Bay Area), with plans to add part-time Community Navigators to new regions and a part-time Peer Navigator in Los Angeles by 2022.

The Community Navigator Program is a small and mighty team that empowers over 35,000 resource-seekers and service providers with One Degree through community outreach, virtual engagement and relationship building. The Manager will provide strategic and practical guidance in community outreach, mentorship and performance management with a racial and class equity lens. As we grow, this role will be responsible for supporting areas with trainings that do not yet have a dedicated Community Navigator, as well as hiring and training new roles.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Provide oversight, support, and performance management to the Community Navigators and Peer Navigators
  • Provide training and feedback to CNP team re: presentations and community engagement
  • Determine the strategic priorities of the team in collaboration with Manager, Member Success
  • Determine, tracking, evaluate, and report on CNP metrics of success
  • Synthesize learnings from CNP interactions with the community to share with our internal departments, including Policy
  • Facilitate collaboration between Community Navigator Program and other Alluma departments
  • Recruit for open Community Navigator and Peer Navigator roles

  • Compassionate and nonjudgmental supervisor/mentor
  • Experience and/or proficiency in Google (preferred) or Office suites
  • Incredible attention to detail
  • Loves getting and giving meaningful feedback
  • Doesn’t sacrifice the “good enough” solution for the “perfect” solution when “good enough” is the right call
  • (Preferred) Lived expertise that resembles our community

Education/Training Requirements:

  • Experience managing a team of at least 1 full-time staff or multiple part-time staff
  • Experience in community outreach and/or public speaking
