Santa Monica Offices Job Description: We’re looking for talented Software Engineers to build the technology used to power our APIs. Along with coding, you will be responsible for working closely with people across the organization, including product managers, front-end engineers, quality assurance, and devops.
ABOUT THE JOB:
In this role you will be developing high performance and scalable REST-based APIs to drive our websites, mobile apps, and partner integrations. We want a great coworker in addition to a great coder — you should value open, active collaboration and work well with others, helping teammates who need it, and asking for the help you need in turn. Passion, humor, and a desire to learn are a must!
WHAT YOU NEED:
Deep understanding of RESTful API design Experience using Ruby and Rails in a production environment Experience using a relational database system (we use Postgres) Solid grasp of software engineering fundamentals and their practical application Care about metrics, monitoring, and testing Well versed in Agile processes such as Continuous Integration Understand how Javascript frameworks, Mobile apps, and other clients might interact with APIs Experience with modern distributed version control such as Git or Mercurial Development experience on Linux and/or OSX Should be comfortable using a command line
NICE TO HAVE:
Experience in any of the following: React / Backbone / Angular / Ember Redis / ElasticSearch Puppet / Chef / Docker Experience deploying apps to AWS Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science Automotive industry experience
