This role provides general support to the Strategic Communications team, which supports campaigns and day-to-day communications primarily for CR’s advocacy efforts. The Strategic Communications Associate assists the members of the team in carrying out the daily communications tasks and responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Works with the Senior Director and other members of the Strategic Communications team to carry out daily communications assignments, working across CR Consumer Impact Areas (CIAs).
- Works with the senior team members to develop communications materials (e.g., press statements, talking points, social content).
- Compiles and circulates reports that inform senior staff members of breaking news, emerging business trends, policy changes and other external factors.
- Partners with the Core Communications function to help support strategic direction and support of media relations and thought leadership initiatives by each CIA.
- Handles general support functions for the Strategic Communications team such as developing presentations and other documents, coordinating mailings, event planning and execution, and research.
- Partners with Core Communications team to track media-relations metrics for CR, focusing on Consumer Policy and Mobilization related communications activities.
- May perform other related duties as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 3 years of experience performing communications tasks, preferably in a mission and/or content driven organization. The role requires strong writing and organizational skills, the ability to consider and synthesize many points of view, keen judgment and thoughtful and transparent decision-making.
