Whether our members make $50k a year or $150k a year, everyone struggles with self confidence issues.
Men, women, seniors, juniors, almost everyone struggles to show their worth.
I want to make something very clear. I talk to hundreds of people every week. Thousands in a year. I have never met anyone who isn't doing incredible work or working hard.
But almost every single person has such negative view points about themselves or downplays their wins. It's almost predictable when I start coaching someone, oh yep, let's talk about self-confidence. It's hard for me to hear and I know even harder for you all to go through.
- If you are not your number one fan, who will be?
- If you don't communicate all the wins you have had, who will?
- If you don't keep track of all things you are proud of at work, who will keep track?
While there are systemic issues that make work and finding a job very difficult, what we can always control is our self image.
Your job in your career is to keep track of your wins. To be proud of the work you have done.
If you approach your job search, your resume, your negotiation, with fears of what you have done wrong or what you are missing, you are leaving out the incredible part of why people want to hire you.
BECAUSE YOU DO GREAT WORK AND YOU ARE SMART.
Show the world how awesome you are. Focus on what success you have had.
When you do have fear, talk through it, don't ignore it. It's so human.
